The BBC put their Faith in Stainforth
William (Billy) Ivory
|
The author of this drama is William Ivory, who penned
the wonderful drama, Common As Muck, and who currently has another
drama series, A Thing Called Love, being screened on BBC1 at this
time. (October 2004)
Some of you may recognise William from when he played brickie Eddie
Ramsden in Coronation Street, but he was well known for his work well
before then.
William Ivory was born in Southwell, but grew up in Nottingham, where
his father worked on the local evening paper.
He attended university in London for a year, before returning to Nottingham,
where he worked for the district council as a dustman, first in Sherwood,
and then in Newark.
He worked for the council for two years, during which time he began
to write and established the Vacant theatre company. |
| His first play, 'Cause for Concern' was
performed at the Mansfield Arts Centre. Since then his work
has included the binmen saga, Common As Muck, a reformed gangster
drama, The Sins, which starred Pete Postlethwaite, and
A Thing Called Love, which features former EastEnders
hunk Paul Nicholls and rising young actress Liz White. |
