The BBC put their Faith in Stainforth

BIG STRIKE FILMS LTD.
IN ASSOCIATION WITH COMPANY PICTURES
AND SCREEN YORKSHIRE
FOR BBC ONE

Looking for Volunteers

Big Strike Films are making a feature film called Faith for BBC One in the Doncaster area about the 1984/85 miners strike.

The filming of Faith, Billy Ivory's new drama for BBC One being made in the Doncaster area by Big Strike Films and Company Pictures in conjunction with Screen Yorkshire, not only brings much needed economic investment to the area but also provides local communities in South Yorkshire with the opportunity to take part in an arts education project rooted firmly in the recent history of the region.

The Have Faith Community Project is taking place in the Stainforth/Thorne/Moorends area and Doncaster, to coincide with scenes shot at these locations.

Local Yorkshire people have been invited to take part in reconstructing through improvisation workshops led by the film's director, David Thacker, events that took place, or could have taken place, during the miners' strike of 84/85. These workshops have analysed the way in which the strike impacted on families and the local community.

Nearly all of those attending the workshops have been invited to become the 350 Supporting Artists working in over 70 scenes. They have been trained to enable them to work professionally as informed and educated participants with a point of view.

VOLUNTEERS

We are also looking for local people to take part in 2 pivotal scenes from the film as volunteers. These volunteers will not be paid for their involvement but we hope the experience will be rewarding by providing access to the filming process, advice from Screen Yorkshire about entering the industry. And also provide all those involved with the opportunity to take part in a film based around an event of historical importance firmly rooted in Yorkshire.
