Name: Peter Sent: 09/08 13:40 A very sad day for Stainforth with the sudden closure of Hatfield Colliery and the loss of 223 jobs. Surely now, more help can be and should be given quickly to the local area. The news is devastating. (I work at Gascoigne Wood Mine - from late 1994 to May 1996 we had Thorne as part of our curtilage!) A well designed informative website. Congratulations. Name: John F. Stockton City: Melbourne, AUSTRALIA Sent: 06/07 21:50 Very impressed and taken in by the history and photo's. I was sent a small booklet some years ago that was about the history of Stainforth. I moved house and can't find it, wonder if you had any idea of its existance and where I could obtain another copy. I lived in both Long Grove and Oldfield Crescent before coming out to Australia in 1961 with my family. Have been back several times as I still have family and friends in the village. My Dad was very taken in on the article about Hatfield Main as he used to work there just after the war. Keep up the good work and hope to see new additions to the site in the future. Regards John F Stockton Name: Peter Sent: 02/07 14:52 Rumoured that Junction Road School site could become the new Doncaster Archives centre but that won't bring any much needed jobs to Stainforth! There needs to be a constructive plan for the future of Stainforth. QUICKLY!!!! Name: Craig City: oregon Sent: 17/06 23:45 Great Page.. Where is Neil Toplis?? Name: Peter Sent: 17/06 11:29 An Excellent, informative site. Perhaps, the biggest changes are still to come! e.g the closing of Junction Road school in 2002. I wonder how Stainforth will look in only 5 years time? Name: Andy Berry Sent: 17/06 09:00 Been out of the village for fifteen years, seen some major changes in that time, well done keep up the good work. Name: Rachel Symons City: Sydney, Australia Sent: 17/05 21:52 Hi from Australia. Lived in Stanley Grove,Dunscroft and igh St, Hatfield from 1956-1965. People might remember my mother - Nurse Symons who was the district nurse and who also preached at Methodist churches in the area. Have fond memories of Stainforth where I went to the Methodist Church and worked at the public library. Interested in hearing from anyone who remembers the family. Loved the film Brassed Off and often wonder if I knew the miners in the colliery scenes (at school with their fathers or them, etc) Thanks for a great site - have it bookmarked for when I get homesick Rachel Name: Jane Dabbs Homepage: http://website.lineone.net/~alandabbs/familyhistoryfamilieslivinginbedhamptonandhavant City: Bedhampton, Hampshire Sent: 28/04 05:34 Great Website.
